Crozier Middle School

The new construction of Crozier Middle School consisted of six two-story buildings including a total of 44 classroom and Science and Arts laboratories. The project has received several industry awards and has been recognized by the Concrete Masonry Association of California and Nevada with consecutive Merit Awards in both Educational Design and Sustainable Design categories.

Additional project features include a multi-media library center, an outdoor amphitheater, a gymnasium with locker and weight rooms, a new administration building, and a cafeteria-style kitchen. The total building area is 104,324 square feet. The project finished six months ahead of schedule despite numerous unforeseen conditions, including a record rainy season and poor soil conditions. FTR’s Subhi Murad, was awarded “Best of 2006 – Project Manager of the Year” by California Construction Magazine.

Construction utilized an integrated means of green building practices including recycled materials and energy-efficient lighting fixtures. Passive systems used to meet sustainability standards included sky lighting, high-performance glazing, and shading devices. Plastic toilet partitions made from recycled raw materials, steel and aluminum reserves mixed with recycled sources, floor materials including recycled fiber carpets, and all roof and wall insulation exceeded California Title 24 requirements.
