Hollenbeck Police Station
As a public icon of progress, community protection, and civil service, the Hollenbeck Police Station is an innovative facility that has been recognized as “Project of the Year” award winner by California Construction Magazine and has received the Los Angeles Architectural Awards – Award of Excellence from the Los Angeles Business Council. The project illustrates the environmental advantages of sustainable design and the progress of technical ingenuity. As the largest police station in Los Angeles, Hollenbeck represents a progressive approach to community-involved civil service facilities.
With an approximate size of 173,000 square feet, features include a four-story parking structure with subterranean parking, a two-story ultra-modern police station, and a one-story maintenance building with car wash facilities. Project received Gold LEED certification upon completion, surpassing the minimum Silver LEED rating required by the owner.
Compliance with LEED waste management diversion guidelines accrued an average estimated 81% diversion rate of inert material and 79% diversion of all other on-site materials. Bulletproof curtain wall exterior glazing is environmentally sensitive and architecturally innovative. Low VOC adhesives, sealants, paints, coatings, and carpeting materials were used in accordance with Indoor Environmental Quality specifications. Building is highly insulated in compliance with standardized LEED requirements and utilizes an array of energy-efficient lighting fixtures.
