Cesar Chavez Elementary School

This award-winning public works project incorporates 75,000 square feet dedicated to a gymnasium complex, three administrative office buildings, and 32 classroom facilities. After a single year of operation this K-12 build exceeded Title 24 requirements by over 33% due to a variety of sustainable features incorporated in the overall project design. Landscaped walls and building arrangement were designed to maximize the use of natural light; further utilizing skylights, indirect lighting, dimming systems, and operable windows. The facility demands over 100,000 gallons less water per year than other schools comparable in size. The Concrete Masonry Association of California and Nevada presented FTR with four separate awards of honor under Sustainable Design and Education Design categories acting both as General Contractor and Masonry Contractor.
